Steve Dorman   Senior Pastor

Steve and Karen have a heart for people to know Christ and be 100% committed to Him. This calling has taken them through a variety of ministries over the last thirty years – in teaching, preaching, leading worship, student ministries, mission programs, evangelistic ministry, and serving as Pastor at First Baptist Brownsville since 2002. Steve believes the First Baptist Church of Brownsville is the most loving and mission-minded church he has ever known. He feels honored to be a part of its ministries and finds great joy in being associated with so many people of incredible spiritual quality and commitment.  

In preparation for ministry, Steve earned degrees from Sam Houston State University, Baylor University, Luther Rice Seminary, and Dallas Theological Seminary. He has also taken doctoral classes at Dallas Seminary and is currently finishing a Doctor of Ministries degree in Church Planting at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He especially enjoys participating in mission works in the Rio Grande Valley, Mexico, Zimbabwe, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, and Japan.

 Craig Smith  Worship/Administative Pastor

Pastor Craig Smith was born and raised in Houston, TX. After graduating from Criswell College in Dallas, he moved to Miami, Fl where he served on a church staff for three years at the FBC of Hialeah. Pastor Craig has now been on staff at FBC Brownsville since 1987. He married Rhonda in 1985 and they have three children: Justin, Heather, and Ashely.

Tracy Sexton    Missions/Education Pastor

Rev. Tracy Sexton has been on staff at First Baptist Church since March 2010.  A native of Gainesville, GA., PastorSexton has been married to his wife Beverly since May, 1984.  They have 2 children, Allison and A.J.  He has served as senior pastor of churches in Georgia and North Carolina, and most recently served for 11 years as pastor of Corinth Baptist Church in Seneca, South Carolina.  He is a graduate of Gwinnett Hall Baptist College, with additional studies at Luther Rice Seminary, Liberty University, Southeastern Bible College, and the Instituto de Lengua Española in San Jose, Costa Rica.

Terry Roberts   FBS Superintendant

Mr. Roberts is First Baptist School's Superintendant for the past four years. He has a passion to share the love of Jesus through Christian education. He is originally from West Virgina but has worked as a School director in others states and recently in the Dominican Republic. Terry is married to his beautiful wife Rosemarry and they have four wonderful children; Wesley, Hannah, Sam and Liz.

 James Martinez   High School/College Minister

James was raised right here in Brownsville, Tx. Upon graduating from high school he left to pursue a music career at West Texas A&M University. It is there that he experienced God for the very first time and accepted the Lord as his personal savior. Not long after that he surrendered to the ministry and has not looked back. James is married to his beautiful wife Stephanie and they have four children; Hannah, Caleb, Haddie, and David. James and Stephanie have a passsion to see the next generation rise up and take ownership of their faith and pursue God with all the heart, mind and soul.
